How to Blissfully Flitter Away Three Hours
What is springtime in Minnesota without a trip to the Sunken Garden inside the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory at Como Park? The perfumed floral scents, a kiss from a prince to awaken us from our winter slumber. The vibrant colors, a welcome change from Jack Frost's grays.
Marjorie McNeely Sunken Garden Show
Traditionally I make my annual spring garden visit closer to Easter; when the floral array is in full bloom. But after our unseasonably warm February temperatures, the Ides of March were surprisingly brutal. Without a winter get-away this year I felt an urgency to refresh and renew my soul; and the opening weekend of the spring show couldn't come soon enough!

Permission Slip For Mother Nature's Field Trip
Flowers in any form are good for my soul; providing hours upon hours of joyful entertainment. Determined to maximize the enchanting experience with minimal distractions by other onlookers I arrived promptly when the doors opened.
Having no commitments that Saturday made 'signing' the permission slip for Mother Nature's field trip a no-brainer. I blissfully floated through the gardens at my leisure -- soaking up all the sights, sounds & smells -- immersing myself in Mother Nature's beauty; much to my heart's delight.

Newborns Coming To Life
Walking into the Conservatory was like being a kid in a candy store. With so many visual treats I wanted to consume them all at once. Then the wisdom of my age kicked in, reminding me to honor each springtime beauty like a newborn coming to life. And so I did...

There were Hyacinths emerging from the earth; their robust shape an indication they soon would be sharing their fragrant aromas.
The tightly wound Hydrangea buds, reminded me of scared children afraid to be who they are, unaware of the stunning beauty they held within.
The Golden Ranunculus looked like sun designs scattered throughout the garden; each one unique and beautiful.
Pale yellow Pansies danced in the wind like flickers of sunshine on a warm summer day.
Daffodils, all sunny and bright, were the smiley face emojis,
And the Tulips and Calla Lilies, standing tall before unfurling, were the exclamation points of the spring garden.

Magnificent Morning of Bliss
When I finally succumbed to my growling stomach and convinced myself I had seen everything I needed to see I checked the time on phone. I could hardly believe my eyes. I had spent 3 blissful hours in Marjorie's magnificent botanical playground. Oh what a delight! Just what my soul needed.
I was ready to conquer a new day!
