A Fresh Start With A "Dancing Heart"
Daisies have quickly become my new favorite flower. After researching the symbolism of daisies I can see why. Given the challenging times we live in right now, the daisy’s message of hope and renewal seems like a breath of fresh air.
"Dancing Heart" is actually my sixth daisy bouquet creation, but its the first one where I'm sharing the behind the scenes story about its creation. If you're familiar with my art story you know creating art is playtime for me. It affords me the luxury of truly living in the moment; where I'm able to let go of my daily stress and nothing else matters except the piece I'm creating.
With playtime there is no formal plan -- which is so different from my every day life. Playtime is about fun and exploration. It's by reflecting afterwards that I'm able to share insights about what struck my fancy during the creative process.
While taking the initial photographs for "Dancing Heart" I was instantly drawn to the colors I saw through my view finder. They were warm and tender, like a mother's gentle kiss on a child's cheek. I couldn't wait to upload the photographs and start playing.
Remember as a kid when you'd put your thumbs in your ears, wave your hands and stick out your tongue? Check out the daisy at the top of the bouquet, seemingly waving its petals to get the attention of its peers. This 'goof ball' daisy was the first one I enhanced. He instantly made me chuckle, and we played together with the rest of our daisy friends to create "Dancing Heart".
As you can see in the before and after photos the daisy stems were a tangled mess -- in some weird way a symbol of my life. By moving all the clutter to one side (the neck of the vase) I simplified the design and created an openness. And in doing so, fond memories of the simplicity of childhood fluttered through my brain.
Each daisy is unique in its' own way. Their petals flowing into each other creating a web of inclusiveness and celebration. While playing with the pixels of the daisy stems I immediately stopped in my 'mouse tracks' when I noticed the open heart design on the vase. For me the open heart reinforced the daisies' message of welcoming inclusiveness. Almost as if saying "We love you. Come, join our party!"
Rays of Light
Once I finished playing with the daisies, my attention was drawn to the lines around the bottom of the vase. Playtime was over and it was time to finish what I was doing and pick up my toys. But like a child I decided to leave my toys laying on the ground. The reflection of water through the flower vase looked like rays of sunshine. A wonderful reminder that the sun comes up every morning, and each day is a new day.

About Suzy2point0 Creations
Using a mouse as my paintbrush I transform photos into stylized impressions of the subject matter. The 'soul' of the photo remains the same, yet I re-invent the image by accentuating its strengths and unique qualities. Thus, creating its 2.0 version.
